Colorado is healing - Sun through the leaves

I'm happy to say that things are starting to feel more normal here in Colorado.  The rain has stopped, and cleanup and rebuilding efforts are in full swing.  The best news is that more and more people are being accounted for as the rescues continue.

On a personal level, we finally got our electricity and hot water back  (never thought I'd be so grateful to re-acquaint with my washing machine!)  Our lower level had to be gutted, and despite three pumps continuosly pumping out, water is still seeping up and across the floors - apparently the water table is so high there's nowhere for it to go!
However, almost everything we lost is replaceable, and I'm feeling very, very grateful for all the help, food, support, and kindness we've received.

Hopefully by next week I'll be able to put down the wet-vac and pick up a paintbrush!
I painted this piece "Sun through the leaves" a couple of weeks ago but I thought it was really appropriate under the circumstances.

  5. I love all the exciting painterly variations that you bring to this painting!! Nothing is "ho-hum".
Glad you made it through that tragic flood mess!
May God send plenty of sun through your leaves in the future, Jane.

  7. Yay for the sun! and for your beautiful paintings! I hated to read what you're going through...it's the pits just going for days without power, then when there's a MAJOR cleanup involved on top of that....well, it takes a lot of energy to get back to 'normal'. Glad you are safe and sound. Hoping the flood waters go down quickly (and never that high again!).

  10. I really appreciate that Diana! Things are definitely looking up - just need to dry out a bit more and then we can start to rebuild and repair...
