A week in the mountains

Right:  My favorite piece from my recent trip to Walden, Colorado. I painted it during a storm! My easel blew over twice and there was so much dirt on my canvas I had to frantically finish with a knife. "Walden Storm" 8x10 oil

One of the most fun aspects of being an artist is being with good friends in gorgeous locations.
A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of joining twelve women artists for a week in the mountains. We were generously hosted on a 2,000 acre ranch!  Some of these painters are icons I have admired for decades, but they were all so warm and down to earth.  I returned home with eleven paintings, advanced ATV skills, and twelve wonderful new friends!

If you aren't familiar with the work of these talented ladies, I'd highly recommend checking them out!
From front left: Joe Anna Arnett, Teresa Vito, Cindy Briggs, Cindy Baron, Stephanie Hartshorn, Charlie Bogusz, Cathy Goodale-Saunders, Ellie Weakley, Lori McNee, Me, Patsy Callahan, Jean Perry, and Lori Putnam.

Right: We got to cruise all around the ranch on ATV's. Incredible luck to be up there right as the leaves were changing.  Lots of opportunites to paint golden aspen trees!

    1. Thanks Diana - adversity certainly forced me to simplify, something I always struggle with!
