New York was fun - but freezing!
I saw a few shows - my favorite was In the Cypher. I highly recommend seeing it - fresh, funny, and thought provoking.
It was very interesting to check out the galleries in Chelsea. I didn't see much work in my genre, but it was very inspiring. The paintings I'm always drawn to are contemporary, almost abstract up close - but look more recognizable the farther away you get. I guess that would be modern impressionism. I returned excited to paint - knowing more than ever the type of work I want to create, and vowing (again) to loosen up my brushwork.
To that end, I made heavy use of a palette knife in this painting....it's hard to get overly fussy when painting with a knife!
