Self Portrait

Textured Acrylic on Flat Panel

I haven't done a self portrait in a long time. There are a couple of reasons for this: First, I've really committed myself to my texturing technique to keep my body of work cohesive - this presents real challenges when doing a portrait.
Second, and more important, I find staring at myself for long periods pretty disconcerting.
Overall, I had fun painting a different subject matter - it's good to mix things up from time to time!

I find looking at myself disconcerting too. LOL I think you are beautiful, Jane, and I think the self-portrait is fabulous! I am trying to figure out what you are thinking as I look at your expression!

Thanks Sherry!!
I was most likely thinking that I picked a weird angle to paint myself from while staring in the mirror. Either that, or ice cream!

Wow ! This is great ! The funny thing is I love painting portraits on textured surfaces, it gives them an antique look and timeless beauty...
